10am at the Rosendale Community Center. 1055 Rt 32, Rosendale, NY

Permaculture is more than just good gardening. It is a lifelong approach to analysis, actions and social structures that results in better relationships, more functional systems and a clearer understanding of everything necessary for human communities to thrive.

PERMACULTURE EXCHANGE: The Tillson Arts & Ecology Center demonstrates permaculture principles on less than half an acre. A suburban model for food, medicine, craft material, wildlife habitat and water management with cultural underpinnings. Birds, bees and butterflies benefit from the plantings while the function and economy of the 100 year-old house is gradually improved. Learning opportunities will be offered in Spring 2024, onsite and in nearby neighborhoods.

The Permaculture Exchange began in 1998 in Oakland, CA as the East Bay Permaculture Exchange. The first East Bay Permaculture Convergence, organized by the Exchange in 2001, was met with great enthusiasm and strong attendance. After moving to NYC, New York Permaculture Exchange hosted many Permaculture Festivals at the Old Stone House of Brooklyn, our home base and long-term project. Certificate courses, classes and workshops were taught throughout the 5 boroughs over the course of 18 years while onsite training sessions built and maintained over an acre of gardens in Washington Park.

Claudia Joseph, founder and Director of the New York Permaculture Exchange, is a permaculture teacher, consultant and practitioner, certified by Permaculture Institute of North America and the Permaculture Institute. After 18 years in Brooklyn, The New York Permaculture Exchange re-located to Tillson, a hamlet of the Town of Rosendale in Ulster county. Located between Kingston and New Paltz on Rt 32, in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley.
